  • Professional Development Institute
    (Session 3 of 3)

    March 30 – April 2, 2010 – The American Folk Art Museum and the Noguchi Museum
    This is the final session of the VTS Professional Development series. Participants must have completed the first two PDIs in the series. Click here to register.

  • Professional Development Institute
    (Session 1 of 3)
    April 13-16, 2010 – Detroit Institute of Arts/University of Michigan Museum of Art
    These institutes prepare people for helping others use VTS. They consist of three four-day workshops separated by enough time to give participants a chance to use and reflect on what was addressed in the previous session. The goal is to develop participants' practical expertise at facilitating VTS as well as discussions of teaching practice, research data, theoretical writing, and assessment of learning.

  • Aesthetic Develop and VTS Seminar with Dr. Abigail Housen
    June 17, 2010 – San Francisco

  • Two-day Practicum
    June 22-23, 2010 – Portland Art Museum, Portland, OR
    Two-day workshops focused on developing VTS facilitation skills. This is a beginning level training for people who have had little or no experience with VTS. While some time is allotted to examining theoretical underpinnings of VTS, the focus is helping participants learn to do VTS well.

    These institutes prepare people for helping others use VTS. VTS training events are open to teachers, museum educators and other professionals interested in learning how to facilitate VTS discussions, becoming a Qualified VTS Trainer, or simply looking to enrich or extend their VTS skills.

Event space is limited and advanced registration is required.

Training Event Fees:

  • VTS Practicum: Cost varies.
  • Professional Development Institute: $500 per session
  • Lead Teacher Institute: $395
  • Coding Workshop: $750

Fees do not include travel, hotel, meals or local transportation.
