Janise Mitchell worked as an elementary and middle school social studies teacher with the New York City Department of Education. Since retiring, Janise has worked at the Wyckoff Farm Museum as a school educator. Currently Janise is working as a museum educator at the Brooklyn Historical Society. In addition to working as a museum educator, Janise is the senior educator for the Young Curators Program at Brooklyn Historical Society. In addition to working at Brooklyn Historical Society, Janise has assisted with the Teen Innovators and Teen Thursdays programs at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  Janise is currently a teacher mentor with the New York City Teaching Fellows program. Janise holds a BS degree in film and theater from Temple University and a MA in education from Adelphi University. Janise enjoys visiting national parks and reading historical fiction.
