Philip Yenawine answers Frequently Asked Questions

Philip Yenawine answers Frequently Asked Questions

The responses to these FAQs were written by Philip Yenawine, co-creator of the Visual Thinking Strategies method and curriculum. These questions were posed to Philip in the early 2000s and published in 2006. His answers are informed by decades of experience leading discussions in classrooms, museum galleries, and professional development workshops around the world. These responses were written to support educators and explore in more depth what is so lucidly offered in Understanding the Basics (we recommend this reading too). Philip’s work is the foundation from which we continue to grow and evolve.

Philip Yenawine has written two books that further illuminate practical classroom applications:  Visual Thinking Strategies: Using Art to Deepen Learning Across School Disciplines (2013) and Visual Thinking Strategies for Preschool (2018), both published by Harvard Education Press.
