The VTS Online Summer Series (OSS) is scheduled for July 12-16, 2021!

Please join us for a week of online programming aimed at connecting VTS practitioners from around the world by fostering a community of collaboration and reflective practice. OSS makes space for visualizing the knowledge, experience, and desire for further learning present in our community.
This 4th VTS Online Summer Series will center the theme "Visualizing Community".
Join us for virtual events including mini-workshops on VTS Image Selection & Design and Aesthetic Development; presentations reflecting on VTS and Social Emotional Learning; a conversation between authors from Site Specific: The Journal of VTS; multiple VTS Look Clubs + community reflections about the VTS Look Club program; a visual note taking workshop and virtual gallery; and opportunities for community-driven networking through participant-selected interest groups.
One registration fee enables access to any and all sessions throughout the week. Timing for each portion of the day is listed below in various time zones. Mini-workshops will run twice, during A & C Blocks to accommodate various time zones.
Daily A Block: 9am-11am Pacific / 12pm-2pm Eastern / 5pm-7pm Europe / 1am-3am (next day) Japan / 2am-4am (next day) Canberra
Daily B Block: 1pm-3pm Pacific / 4pm-6pm Eastern / 9pm-11pm Dublin / 5am-7am (next day) Japan / 6am-8am (next day) Canberra
Daily C Block: 4pm-6pm Pacific / 7pm-9pm Eastern / 12am-2am Dublin / 8am-10am (next day) Japan / 9am-11am (next day) Canberra
SLIDING SCALE REGISTRATION FEES
We are exploring the use of a sliding scale as an experiment in equitable pricing. We are confident that those who join us are committed to being part of a thoughtful community that is diverse, committed to economic justice, and interested in finding new ways of supporting each other. We have been inspired to use this pricing strategy by Embracing an Equity Sliding Scale.
Please use the guide below to self-select your registration fee for the VTS Online Summer Series.
STANDARD PRICE: $195
Consider investing in the standard price if you:
- are single and/or without dependents
- are able to repay your student loans, are in repayment or have paid off your student loans
- have daily reliable transportation
- are able to miss work either for sickness or leisure, and are still able to pay next month’s bills
- travel when needed for an unexpected occasion like a family funeral or emergency
EQUITY PRICE: $125
Consider investing in the equity price if you:
- are supporting children or have other dependents
- have significant debt
- have medical expenses not covered by insurance
- are eligible for public assistance
- have immigration-related expenses
- are an elder with limited financial support
- are an unpaid community organizer
- are a returning citizen who has been denied work due to incarceration history
- experience discrimination in hiring or pay level
- are descended from enslaved people or Native American Indians
PAY IT FORWARD PRICE: $265
Consider investing in the pay it forward price, if you:
- own the home you live in
- have investments, retirement accounts or inherited money
- travel for recreation
- have access to family money and resources in times of need
- work part-time or are unemployed by choice, including unemployment due to full-time school in a degree-earning program
- have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.)
